Mechatherm were recently awarded their second major contract in the United States of America to supply a 340,000 lb (155T) tilting holding furnace for Logan Aluminium’s Russellville plant in Kentucky, USA.
Not only does this prestigious project represent the largest tilting holding furnace contract for Mechatherm to date, it is said to be amongst the largest of its kind worldwide.
Stuart Allen, Director of Sales stated that the company is excited about winning the project, especially the large scale impact it would have for the company and its staff. “The furnace design is challenging and very bespoke to suit the specific requirements of Logan. The bidding process took months of stringent interviews, documentation and presentations with participation from the biggest furnace supplier brands in America and Europe”.
Our team’s proposal emerged victorious in the end and we are now in the design phase with the solution expected to be delivered to site early 2017 for installation and start up in the summer of 2017."
Logan Aluminium is a world leading American manufacturer of flat rolled aluminium sheet primarily for use in the beverage can market and is jointly owned by two of the biggest names in the aluminium industry - Novelis Corporation and Tri-Arrows Aluminium Corporation. This new facility forms part of an ongoing expansion project at their existing Kentucky plant.
The project showcases Mechatherm’s capabilities on a global scale and will provide us with the perfect reference and gateway into the expansive American aluminium market.
